BRANDING + UI/UX

The Immigration Project

THE PROJECT

The Immigration Project is a local nonprofit dedicated to providing free legal services to immigrants in Central and Southern Illinois with a rural, traveling clinic model. Their website and branding was in dire need of an update to make the site more accessible and clear to users. With my new design, I translated their identity to communicate the warmth and approachability of their organization.

Through a round of heuristic analysis on the Immigration Project’s website, I determined several issues with the layout and design.

  1. Calendar events cannot be sorted for location.

  2. Pages were often verbose and lacked visually interesting hierarchy.

  3. The main site menu is not straightforward.

  4. The website design is outdated and clunky.

MY PLAN

Clarified navigation bar.

New brand system.

Complete homepage revamp.

Card Sorting

After a few rounds of card sorting with volunteers, I was able to devise a site map to guide my wireframes.
